Summary Brendan Burke's Secretary's Report
2011 was another full and active year for the club, the main highlight being the winning of the Junior A championship and the successful running of the Development Draw and the collection of scrap, which were both very important for the future of the club.
It was another disappointing year for our Seniors in the championship not winning a game in their group. The absence of key players again mainly due to injury was a factor. Getting to the League Final was a boost but lost out narrowly to St.Thomas’s.
A very successful year for out Junior (A) Team winning the County Final, beating Ballygar with a mixture of youth and experience.
Thanks to Joe Rabbitte, Peadar Monaghan, Pascal Healy, Jack O’Shea, Pat Nally and Ian Connolly for looking after both teams.
Our Junior C team lost out narrowly to Gort in the County Final in a well contested game. Thanks to Kevin Quigley, Liam McGrath and Johnny O’Brien
The Under U21 Hurling team went out of the championship in the quarter final to St. Thomas who were eventual winners. Thanks to John Coll, Paul Hardiman and Eugene Cloonan.
After a slow start to the championship this team improved with every game they played and gave an outstanding performance especially against Clarenbridge. They reached the County Final for a second year in a row, losing out narrowly to Tynagh Abbey Duniry. Thanks to Eugene Cloonan, Tom Cloonan, Paul Hardiman and John Coll.
Our Intermediate football team competed well in League and Championship but were beaten in the quarter final by Carna Cashel. Thanks to Tim Rabbitte, Henri O’Hora, Tom Flynn and Garvin McDaid.
Junior B Football team were beaten by Tuam after a replay in the Championship and struggled in the league due to losing players throughout the year. Thanks to James Foran, PJ Dooley, Peter Melia and Jack Hallesey.
UNDER 21 FOOTBALL
Beaten in 1st Round by Caltra with an under strength team.
Thanks to Michael Gibbons, Brendan Burke and the management team.
